Dr. Michael Olympio, Professor of Neuroanesthesiology, is the 2010 recipient of the Duke Award for Excellence and Innovation in Anesthesia Education presented from the Society for Education in Anesthesia. The SEA/Duke Award is presented to Dr. Olympio for his significant contribution to anesthesia education.
Dr. Medge Owen, Professor of Obstetric Anesthesiology, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center received the Innovation in Education Award, a teaching recognition award from the International Anesthesia Research Society, for her outstanding career contributions made toward improving safe childbirth worldwide. Dr. Owen is the President and Founder of Kybele, Inc., an organization that partners with healthcare facilities around the world to promote and improve childbirth conditions for mother and baby. As a recipient of the IARS Teaching Recognition Award, Dr. Owen received $15,000, and round-trip airfare and accommodations to the IARS 2010 Annual Meeting in Honolulu, Hawaii on March 20-23, 2010, where she was recognized and presented with the award.
