Global Health in Anesthesiology

Another Kybele Team success.
Kybele...for safe childbirth worldwide
Kybele creates healthcare partnerships. The organization brings US, Canadian, Australian and European healthcare professionals together to work in teams that travel to host countries. Once there, they work along side doctors and nurses in their home environments. Kybele team members donate their time and experience to provide hands-on training in techniques that improve healthcare safety. Kybele's goal is to prevent childbirth related injury and death which affect millions of women and newborns each year. Kybele integrates the doctors they train into the teams that go to other countries, promoting a spirit of equality and cooperation within their global network. MORE
Operation Smile Several of our faculty volunteer with Operation Smile, an international group providing free surgical services to people in the U.S. and 18 countries who have cleft lips and palates, burns, and more severe craniofacial deformities, as well as limb deformities. Faculty involved, Dr. Jim O'Brien (Bolivia, Paraguay, Ecuador, Peru) and Dr. Doug Ririe (Ecuador, Panama, China, and Peru, Bolivia, Paraguay), travel to these destinations as part of a medical team and provide anesthesia and perioperative care for patients having these surgeries. | Dr. Ririe with Operation Smile in Bolivia. |
