CME and Promotional Activities

The following outlines an announcement from the key National CME and CE accrediting organizations about the National Faculty Education Initiative (NFEI).

Last fall, the Alliance for CME (Alliance) and the Society for Academic Continuing Medical Education (SACME), in collaboration with the American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC), launched the National Faculty Education Initiative (NFEI).

We are delighted to inform you that the NFEI's online training course on the differences between certified CME and promotional activities, as well as the robust verification database, are experiencing heightened attention, increased physician participation, and widespread endorsement by various professional organizations within the healthcare community. Here are just a few highlights that we would like to share with you:

  • The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) have joined the Association for Hospital Medical Education (AHME) in endorsing the NFEI.
  • The NFEI received media coverage in Medical Meetings and Medical Marketing & Media, among other publications.
  • The NFEI continues to receive high marks for the presentation of the content and the delivery format. To date, over 800 individuals have completed the online educational course.
  • A number of medical schools, medical specialty societies, and other healthcare organizations are initiating efforts to integrate this program into their faculty development efforts as a strategy for resolving identified conflicts of interest.

All WFSM faculty and staff and regional partners who participate in planning and implementing continuing education activities are encouraged to visit the website and learn more about this educational program at http://www.NFEInitiative.org
