International Outreach and Diversity
A global focus
Our vision is to educate our students on a global scale. International travel helps students learn about and identify the needs of diverse populations. At the same time, our student body which represents different backgrounds and geographies brings richness to the classroom and the school experience. Read on these pages how we reach out to exchange care, compassion, and knowledge with people from other cultures, as well as how we welcome and value students who come to us from different practice settings, different cultures, and different geographies.
With a generous gift from the Class of 2014, we began the Global Health Mission Fund. This program financially supports our students to participate in medical mission trips during their time at the Wake Forest Nurse Anesthesia Program.
In support of our vision to keep abreast of evolving trends in health care and education, this program has pursued international outreach to promote anesthesia education, cultural understanding, and clinical expertise across national boundaries. We have been involved with organizations and groups in North and South America, Africa, and Asia. In 2012, as a testament to our commitment to international education and educational standards, we became the first program in the U.S. to be fully accredited by the International Federation of Nurse Anesthetists.
