Sex, Aging, and Variation in Vascular Functionality (SAVVY) Study

What we are studying

The Wake Forest Baptist Health Department of Neurology is conducting a research study for people who have stroke risk factors. The purpose of this research study is to see if men and women with vascular risk factors have differences in blood vessel wall thickening and blood vessel widening. This study is sponsored by the National Institute of Health.

Who we are studying

  • Men and Women
  • Races:
    • White
    • African American
    • Asian
    • American Indian or Alaska Native
    • Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander
    • Other
  • All Ethnicities
  • Ages 45 - 64

Eligibility Criteria

  • One or more of the following:
    • High Blood Pressure
    • High Cholesterol
    • Type 2 Diabetes
    • Tobacco Smoking

What is involved

  • Two study office visits
  • Brief follow-up telephone calls every 6 months for two years


$15 if you complete both visit 1 and visit 2 of the scheduled study office visits
