Study for Adolescents and Young Adults with Untreated Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

What we are studying

The purpose of this study is to improve the outcome of adolescents and young adults with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). This study will evaluate the effectiveness and side-effects of an intensive program using multiple chemotherapy drugs that has been designed for children but is now being used in young adults up to 40 years old.

  • Ages 16 - 40

Eligibility Criteria

  • Between the ages of 16-40
  • Diagnosed acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL)

What is involved

  • 1 screening visit
  • 4 chemotherapy combination treatments

Compensation:

You will not be paid for taking part in this study. If you voluntarily agree to complete the patient surveys as part of this study, you will receive a $20 gift certificate for each of the questionnaires listed below that you complete and return. 1. The questionnaire during the first six weeks of treatment (during remission induction therapy [Course I]), 2. The questionnaire at the end of remission consolidation therapy (Course II). 3. The questionnaire at the end of delayed intensification therapy (Course IV). 4. The questionnaire at the end of all study treatment.
