Anesthesia in Gastric Bypass, Banding, or Sleeve Surgery

What we are studying

The purpose of this research study is to collect information about using a type of general anesthetic technique which uses a video system to help see the voice box and then allows placement of a breathing tube easily and quickly in patients having gastric bypass, banding, or sleeve gastrectomy surgery. Information about this type of general anesthetic technique will be compared to other techniques in the future.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Morbidly obese patients scheduled for:
    • Gastric bypass
    • Banding
    • Or sleeve gastrectomy surgery

What is involved

  • Participation occurs only while in the hospital for surgery
