Study on the Development of Asthma and Obstructive Lung Disease

What we are studying

This purpose of this research study is to look at how genes, substances and cells that are in respiratory secretions (lung fluids) or blood are important in the development of asthma and obstructive lung disease.

Who we are studying

  • Men and Women
  • Races:
    • White
    • African American
    • Asian
    • American Indian or Alaska Native
    • Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander
    • Other
  • All Ethnicities
  • Ages 18+

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must have respiratory symptoms consistent with asthma or COPD
  • Or healthy smoking or non-smoking persons with respiratory symptoms

What is involved

  • Questionnaires
  • Tests to measure your breathing
  • Tests that collect samples of fluids or cells from the lungs
  • Tests to measure the effect of genes on your breathing disease

Compensation

You will be paid $280.00 if you complete all study procedures.
