Lifestyle Intervention Program for Older Adults

What we are studying

This research study is being done to look at the safety and effectiveness of three different programs and how they might affect your health, activity level, and everyday life.

  • Men and Women
  • Races:
    • White
    • African American
    • Asian
    • American Indian or Alaska Native
    • Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander
    • Other
  • All Ethnicities
  • Ages 60 - 79

Eligibility Criteria

  • Between 60-79 years of age
  • Sedentary
  • Overweight or obese

What is involved

  • 2 screening visits
  • Randomization to 1 of 3 weight loss groups


You will receive no payment for taking part in this study; however, you will be assisted with transportation gas costs by way of check mailed to your home address after successful completion of 10 study testing and/or group intervention visits. This reimbursement will be made at a rate of $5 for each intervention group session attended, and $15 for each multi-part testing visit completed.
