What we are studying
The purpose of this research study is to learn whether female patients undergoing a medical procedure (PCI) to open a blood vessel(s) in the heart experience more success and lower complications when the medical procedure is performed through the leg or through the arm. Prior research indicates women are at a higher risk of bleeding compared with men when undergoing the same medical procedure. This higher risk of bleeding may be a reason why this medical procedure is not performed as often in women as men even though it may be beneficial to women.
