Understanding Breast Cancer Patient's Experience Returning to Daily Life

What we are studying

The purpose of this research is to understand the breast cancer patient’s experience of returning to daily life during and after breast cancer treatment. The investigator wants to understand this experience to develop future interventions which would support breast cancer patients during this time.

Who we are studying

  • Women
  • Races:
    • White
    • African American
    • Asian
    • American Indian or Alaska Native
    • Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander
    • Other
  • All Ethnicities
  • Ages 40 - 65

Eligibility Criteria

  • Are 40 to 65 years of age
  • Have Stage I II or III breast cancer
  • Have had surgery and chemotherapy
  • Will have radiation therapy

What is involved

  • Four visits
  • First visit is during the 1st week of radiation therapy: complete a 20 minute questionnaire
  • Second visit is during the last week of radiation therapy: complete a 20 minute questionnaire and a 60-90 minute interview which will be digitally recorded
  • Third visit is 3 months after the completion of radiation therapy: complete a 20 minute questionnaire
  • Fourth visit is 6 months after the completion of radiation therapy: complete a 20 minute questionnaire and a 60-90 minute interview which will be digitally recorded

Compensation:

Participants will be paid $20 Target gift card for time at each visit for a total of four $20 Target gift cards if all visits are completed.
