Hormone Therapy and Radiation Therapy for Prostate Cancer

What we are studying

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of hormone therapy (androgen deprivation) and radiation therapy targeting only the prostate gland and seminal vesicles compared to the whole pelvic body area.

    • American Indian or Alaska Native
    • Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander
    • Other
  • All Ethnicities
  • Ages 18+

Eligibility Criteria

  • Diagnosed with Prostate Cancer
  • No Prostatectomy or Cryosurgery for Prostate Cancer
  • No previous Chemotherapy for Prostate Cancer
  • No prior Radiotherapy for Prostate Cancer

What is involved

  • Weekly visits during treatment (includes physical exam and questionnaires)
  • Monthly blood tests
  • 5 days a week of radiation treatment for 44 treatments
  • Hormone therapy for 6 months or 32 months
  • Follow-Up visits every 3 months for the first year
  • Follow-Up visits every 6 months for years 2-5
  • Follow-Up visits annually after year 5.
