HEART Pathway Randomized Controlled Trial

What we are studying

The primary concept of this research program is to study a chest pain risk stratification care pathway, the HEART pathway, in a randomized controlled clinical trial. The research program will assess the efficacy of the HEART pathway among patients coming to the ED with chest pain or other symptoms suggestive of acute coronary syndrome.

  • All Ethnicities
  • Ages 21+

Eligibility Criteria

  • Chest discomfort or other symptoms consistent with possible ACS

What is involved

  • Patients will be approached by research staff while in the ED
  • Participants will be contacted by phone at 30 days and one year following their ED visit to determine if any cardiac events have taken place since discharge
