Evaluation of a New Drug for ALS

What we are studying

A new drug is being investigated as a potential new therapy for the improvement of muscle weakness and muscle fatigue in patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The purpose of this research study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of a new drug and how well it is tolerated in patients with ALS. Additionally, the effects of this new drug on the performance of participant's elbow, wrist, hand, knee and ankle muscles, their breathing, and how long they can maintain a task will be evaluated.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)
  • Able to swallow tablets without crushing

What is involved

  • Study participant will last about 20 weeks
  • 11 study visits: 1 screening visit; 1 baseline visit; 8 study visits; 1 follow-up visit
