Blood and Tissue Samples for Prostate Cancer

What we are studying

The purpose of this research study is to observe how specific cells in your body’s immune system affect your tumor.

    • White
    • African American

    • American Indian or Alaska Native
    • Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander
    • Other
  • All Ethnicities
  • Ages 18+

Eligibility Criteria

  • Have prostate cancer and are scheduled to have surgery to remove your prostate
  • OR have recently completed hormone therapy for your prostate cancer
  • OR are a man who has had a negative prostate biopsy within the last 2 years and not currently have cancer

What is involved

  • For participants who are scheduled to undergo surgery - a small tissue sample from prostate tumor will be saved and two tablespoons of blood withdrawn
  • For participants who have recently completed hormone therapy and those without cancer- two tablespoons of blood will be withdrawn from the vein
