The Effects of Aquatic Prehabilitation in Knee Osteoarthritis Patients on Knee Arthroplasty Outcomes

What we are studying

The purpose of this research study is to find out if prehabilitation (training before surgery) can result in better postoperative outcomes in patients who are undergoing total knee replacement surgery with poor mobility.

    • American Indian or Alaska Native
    • Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander
    • Other
  • All Ethnicities
  • Ages 65+

Eligibility Criteria

  • Scheduled for primary total knee replacement surgery (TKA)

What is involved

  • Screening visit
  • Blood draw (2 teaspoons)
  • Balance tests
  • Randomized into prehabilitation group or stand care group
