Study for People without Heart Failure

What we are studying

The purpose of this research study is to obtain data on people who do not have heart failure to use as a comparison for another study that is enrolling people with heart failure. This study will compare your blood, muscle, and physical abilities to those who have heart failure to see what differences exist and to try and understand the changes that occur in people with heart failure.

Who is Eligible

  • Genders:
    • Men
    • Women
  • Races:
    • White
    • African American
    • Asian
    • American Indian or Alaska Native
    • Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander
    • Other
  • Not Hispanic or Latino
  • Ages 60+

Eligibility Criteria

  • Overweight/Obese
  • Not diabetic
  • No history of heart disease
  • Not taking medication for high blood pressure or cholesterol

What is involved

  • 3-4 visits
  • Blood draw
  • Physical performance testing
  • Muscle sampling
  • Optional brain MRI and cognitive testing


You will be paid up to $150 for your participation
