A study to look at movement to prevent obesity and weight regain

What we are studying

This study will help determine the appropriate type, amount and intensity of physical activity most beneficial for preventing weight regain after weight loss in older adults.

Who we are studying

  • Men and Women
  • Races:
    • White
    • African American
    • Asian
    • American Indian or Alaska Native
    • Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander
    • Other
  • All Ethnicities
  • Ages 65 - 85

Eligibility Criteria

  • Overweight
  • Non-Smoker
  • Weight stable for the last 6 months
  • No osteoporosis
  • Not currently exercising on a regular basis

What is involved

  • 8 visits over 24 months and includes an 18 month weight loss program with 2/3 of the group also exercising
  • Visits include questionnaires
  • Blood draws
  • Physical performance measures
