Blood Test to Aid With Diagnosing Acute Heart Failure

What we are studying

Patients presenting to the Wake Forest Baptist Health Emergency Department (ED) for symptoms that are concerning for acute decomensated heart failure (ADHF) may be eligible for participation in this trial. This study involves taking up to 3 blood samples from patients to evaluate blood markers that could help with diagnosing and evaluating ADHF.

    • Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander
    • Other
  • All Ethnicities
  • Ages 22+

Eligibility Criteria

  • Exclusion criteria include:
    • Renal insufficiency
  • Dyspnea after chest trauma
  • Pregnancy
  • Poor quality of blood samples

What is involved

  • Up to 3 blood draws
  • One follow-up telephone call
