Study to compare two treatment options for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH)

What we are studying

to compare the performance of the AquaBeam System with the standard surgical procedure called Transurethral Resection of the Prostate, or TURP, in men who have benign prostatic hyperplasia (or BPH).

Who we are studying

  • Men
  • Races:
    • White
    • African American
    • Asian
    • American Indian or Alaska Native
    • Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander
    • Other
  • All Ethnicities
  • Ages 45 - 80

Eligibility Criteria

  • Urination frequently during the day and night
  • Pain during urination
  • Weak flow during urination
  • Feeling that the bladder is not completely empty after urination
  • Previous diagnosis of BPH

What is involved

  • Patients will be followed for 3 years
  • Urological exams
  • Urodynamic testing
  • Surgical procedure to treat BPH
