Cardiac Blood Test to Optimize Chest Pain Risk Stratification

What we are studying

Subjects presenting to the Emergency Department (ED) with Chest Pain may be approached for participation. If eligible, up to 4 blood draws will be collected over 4 hours. Two follow-up phone calls will also be conducted, at 30 and 90 days after the ED visit.

    • Women
  • Races:
    • White
    • African American
    • Asian
    • American Indian or Alaska Native
    • Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander
    • Other
  • All Ethnicities
  • Ages 21+

Eligibility Criteria

  • Patient in shock
  • Terminal diagnosis with life expectancy less than 90 days
  • Non-Cardiac medical or surgical issue
  • Previous enrollment in this study
  • Non-English speaker
  • Pregnant patients.

What is involved

  • Up to four blood draws
  • 2 phone calls


$25 for each successful phone follow-up
