2012.02.20 Weekly Broadcast Email
The following updates were made to the CCCWFU CCOP Research Base website for the week of February 20, 2012.
99211 Reminder from Study PI, Kate Weaver:
All site staff that do not actively participate in the smoking cessation counseling for more than 6 months will need to be recertified. We urge all sites to expedite the IRB submission process so that they can enroll their first patient prior to April 22nd. We will work with sites who enroll patients after this time to make sure they have someone with a current certification and will try to make it as convenient as possible to recertify (we can do it via skype or video submission). The practice session should not be conducted with a patient. If the recording is acceptable study personnel will receive recertification. If recording is not acceptable feedback will be provided and the study personnel will be encouraged to practice and submit a new recording. As I’m sure you can appreciate, these are skills that get rusty if they are not used, and we want to make the sure that the intervention is delivered with fidelity to the protocol. I appreciate your efforts to make this study a success.
Questions regarding certification can be sent to Dr. Weaver at keweaver@wakehealth.edu

The WFU IRB requested minor changes to the 97509 protocol and consent during the 2012 continuing review. Please find the revised Amendment 3CR documents on the Research Base website.
