Paramedic Advanced Skills Workshop (Limited Attendance)

The advanced skills workshop provides the opportunity for attendees to enhance advanced level skills by performing them on fresh human cadaver tissue under the direction and guidance of EMS physicians. Participants will perform advanced level skills such as airway management, hemorrhage control, and intravenous access. 

Skills being reviewed are: 

  • direct laryngoscopy
  • video laryngoscopy 
  • chest tube insertion/needle decompression 
  • IO access 
  • hemorrhage control

Participants will be accepted on a first come - first served basis until 30 participants per session are received and verified by postmark or fax date.
30 participants 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
30 participants 1:30 pm - 5:30 pm

Participants must have and provide a copy of active an North Carolina and/or National Registry Paramedic Certification.

MOCA® Certification Courses

The Center for Experiential and Applied Learning’s Patient Simulation Lab offers a bimonthly simulation course that fulfills the Part IV Simulation educational course requirement of the American Board of Anesthesiology’s Maintenance of Certification in Anesthesiology® (MOCA) program. Ultrasound Education

The Program for Medical Ultrasound offers continual educational opportunities in the art of ultrasound to physicians, sonographers and other allied health professionals. Each course includes hands-on scanning sessions as well as lectures. Upcoming trainings include the following:

  • Ob/Gyn Ultrasound – October 23-27, 2017 and April 23-27, 2018
  • Neurovascular Ultrasound (Carotid/TCD) – October 2-6, 2017 and March 5-9, 2018
  • Neurovascular Interpretation – December 4-8, 2017
  • Neuromuscular Ultrasound – TBD for 2018
