Lang and his colleagues have been conducting research studies focused on the use of complementary and alternative medicines (CAM). With grant support from the NIH, Lang and a group of statisticians have collaborated with Drs. Arcury, Quandt, Grzywacz, and Nguyen on the analysis of several national survey datasets, such as the National Health Interview survey (NHIS) and Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS). They are currently conducting a prospective data collection project examining the use of CAM among rural old adults in North Carolina. In addition to these projects, Lang is actively involved in behavioral weight loss studies, such as the Look AHEAD trial and the SNAP trial. His methodology research focuses on the modeling of correlated non-normal data and the handling of missing data problem.
