Worker Health Expertise

Francis O. Walker, MD
Professor of Neurology
Medical Director of NCBH Diagnostic Neurology EMG Laboratory

Walker has focused his research on two key areas. The first area of focus has been peripheral nerve injury from mechanical trauma or toxins, particularly compression neuropathies and botulinum toxin. The second area has been neurodegenerative diseases manifest by toxic gain of function, particularly Huntington’s disease and Parkinson’s disease.

He recently has been active in collaborations with Drs. Quandt and Arcury in studying the incidence of carpal tunnel syndrome with nerve conduction studies and ultrasonography in poultry workers, and in evaluating the toxic manifestations of pesticides on the central and peripheral nervous system of workers engaged in their use.
