Church and Community Relations
Paul Mullen, Director
The Department of Church and Community Relations serves a liaison between North Carolina Baptist Hospital at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and churches, especially those affiliated with the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina and the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of North Carolina.
North Carolina Baptists provide significant funding through cooperative missions giving to support partnership ministries with CareNet of North Carolina, the Center for Congregational Health, and Chaplaincy and Pastoral Education. They also provide a ministry of benevolent care for patients in financial need through the Mother’s Day Offering. The Department facilitates communications with North Carolina Baptists to maintain and enhance these vital partnerships.
The Department coordinates and promotes the Mother’s Day Offering, sending materials to over 4,000 North Carolina Baptist churches, and providing speakers to churches to share the significance of this ministry.
We also facilitate medical appointments for ministers, their families and church members. Advocacy is provided for those requesting financial assistance with medical bills. These services enhance the bond with North Carolina Baptists.
The Department also provides services to indigent patients and families through a Discretionary Fund, assisting with meals, prescriptions at discharge, and transportation.
