Community Financial Support

This chart shows how Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center directed money to the benefit of the community in the 2012 fiscal year. The total of $237.4 million, a slight increase over the $237.1 million spent in fiscal 2011, includes money that supports:

  • Charity care
  • Community groups and community building
  • Education in the medical and health professions
  • Research efforts
  • Subsidized health services—primarily the Downtown Health Plaza in Winston-Salem
  • Unreimbursed costs of government-funded programs—primarily Medicare and Medicaid
