JDRF One Walk Oct 22

Help us help JDRF create a world without type 1 diabetes (T1D). Wake Forest Baptist Health is proud to sponsor the 2016 JDRF One Walk and we would like to invite you to join our Wake Forest Baptist Health Diabetes Center team.

The 2016 Walk is scheduled for Saturday, October 22,  9 am, at Wake Forest University's BB&T Field. Check out the event schedule for times and information on parking.

JDRF is the worldwide leader in funding research to cure type 1 diabetes, an autoimmune disease that strikes children and adults suddenly and lasts a lifetime. JDRF sets the global agenda for diabetes research and is the largest charitable funder of and advocate for diabetes science worldwide.
Nearly 3 million people across the US have type 1 diabetes. That’s more than twice the population of the 12-county Piedmont Triad region. Just as sobering is the fact that each year more than 15,000 children are diagnosed with type 1 in the US. That’s 40 kids every single day.

To help in the quest to find a cure for type 1 diabetes, the Piedmont Triad Chapter was founded in 1994, and hosted its first events—Walks to Cure Diabetes in both Winston-Salem and Greensboro—in 1995. In addition to the Winston-Salem and Greensboro Walks, the chapter now hosts Walks in High Point, Burlington and Asheboro. Each year, over 4,000 people participate in these four Walks, which together raise over $1 million for important diabetes research.
