Comparing Quality
What are Core Measures?
Core measures show how often a hospital provides recommended treatments for patients with certain medical conditions or surgical procedures. These core process measures are based on scientific evidence about treatments that are known to achieve the best results.
Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center regularly monitors and reports data on these process measures to state and national organizations, including The Joint Commission and The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). CMS reports the results for how often hospitals use the recommended standards of care in the areas of heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia and surgical infection.
