Cancer Center Launches Precision Medicine Program
At Wake Forest Baptist Health we know every single cancer patient is unique. That’s why every single cancer treatment should be unique as well.
Our Precision Medicine Program is designed to identify genetic abnormalities within each patient’s cancer cells and create a treatment plan that specifically targets those abnormalities. It is designed for adult and pediatric patients who have active cancer that has failed standard treatment.
Through genetic sequencing of the patient’s tumor cells we may be able to identify customized treatments which could enable the patient to:
- Take new cancer fighting therapies
- Take a drug not traditionally used for cancer
- Enroll in a clinical trial for a novel therapy being studies.
As the only academic medical center in western North Carolina, we are uniquely positioned to provide the highest level of cancer care, access to clinical trials and the broadest range of targeted drugs. We design treatments that are uniquely personalized to you – our valued patients.
