About the Breast Care Center
The Breast Care Center is a multidisciplinary breast cancer diagnosis and treatment center. Multidisciplinary care refers to different specialists working as a team to provide the most effective, personalized treatment for each patient. Our team of experts works together to advance breast cancer science: prevention, diagnosis and treatment, as well as survivorship.
Benefits of a Multidisciplinary Approach
All of our experts see patients in our breast cancer clinic. Patients can expect to see up to 4 specialists in one day and can expect to leave with a plan for treatment. Our pathology lab is right in the clinic, so if you need a biopsy, you can receive a conclusive diagnosis that same day. Learn more about diagnosis and treatment.
Our Team of Breast Cancer Experts
Our team includes breast surgeons, medical oncologists, radiologists, patient navigators and specialized nurses. Our experience makes us one of the most experienced breast cancer teams in the country, and our accreditations include the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). Breast Cancer Research
As part of the Comprehensive Cancer Center of Wake Forest University, the only NCI-designated cancer center west of the Research Triangle, our team is composed of national leaders in breast cancer thought. We consistently direct research that advances the treatment of breast cancer, and partner with our Breast Cancer Center of Excellence to provide translational research: discoveries in the lab move directly towards patients in treatment. We direct a wide variety of clinical trials for our breast cancer patients, and we are at the forefront of providing targeted therapies/biologics and clinical trials with novel agents.
Genetic Screening for High-Risk Breast Patients
The Center offers state-of-the-art genetic screening for those seeking breast cancer risk assessment. If you are determined to have an elevated risk, you can elect to participate in breast cancer prevention clinical trials for access to the latest advances.
