Comprehensive Cancer Center Expansion
The six-story addition to our Comprehensive Cancer Center opened in late 2013 and brings both inpatient and outpatient services into a single location.
At more than 530,000 square feet, our new Comprehensive Cancer Center is the largest dedicated cancer hospital in North Carolina.
For the first time, inpatient and outpatient services are housed in a single location, enhancing the overall patient experience. All rooms are private, make use of natural light and are designed to accommodate families.
It is a healing environment that reflects the center's holistic care philosophy -- a soothing water feature at the entrance, four-story atrium flooded with natural light, original artwork by local and regional artists, and tranquil music. A courtyard nestled in the center of the upper floors offers patients and families a peaceful environment to spend time together.
“As a dedicated comprehensive cancer hospital, offering both inpatient and outpatient services in a single facility improves patient access, convenience and satisfaction,” said John McConnell, MD, chief executive officer. “Our mission is to care and to cure. When it comes to cancer treatment, this expansion enables the medical center to take an outstanding program and put it under one roof which enhances the overall patient experience.”
