Orthopaedic Oncology
Orthopaedic Oncology
Treating orthopaedic cancers requires diagnostic and surgical expertise, as well as caring and compassionate surgeons who can manage challenging situations.
Orthopaedic Tumor Care in North Carolina
At the Comprehensive Cancer Center, our orthopaedic cancer team provides comprehensive care—together they treat more than 500 patients a year—and are considered pioneers in needle biopsies, a hallmark of exceptional care during orthopaedic cancer diagnosis. Further, this group of fellowship-trained orthopaedic oncologists excels at limb salvage operations and have saved functional limbs that otherwise would have required amputation.
Bone Cancer Diagnosis in a Day
We know how important it is to know if you have an orthopaedic cancer. That is why if you see one of our doctors during clinic, you can be assured that an experienced physician will be reviewing your studies that day. Very often our doctors perform needle biopsies the same day and a pathologist can review the biopsy under a microscope on the spot. This quick and effective diagnostic process leads patients to treatment faster, which is essential when fighting cancer.
