Surgical Oncology
Surgical oncology at the Comprehensive Cancer Center at Wake Forest Baptist Health is a major part of our cancer treatment and care. Our surgical oncologists work as a team to deliver superior care in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. A major cornerstone of our practice is our clinical research that investigates innovative new methods for performing cancer surgery.
What is surgical oncology?
Surgical oncology treats cancer using various methods of surgery to remove the cancer tissue and maintain and/or preserve the tissues left behind. Surgical oncologists work in tandem with physicians from many other specialties to design comprehensive, personalized care for each patient. All of the surgical oncologists at Wake Forest have completed additional subspecialty cancer training after surgical residency. This is unique in the area.
