The Pre-operative Assessment Clinic (PAC) team at Davie Medical Center includes:
- Registered nurses
- Certified registered nurse anesthetists
- Nurse practitioners
- Physician assistants
During a PAC visit, the patient will
undergo a thorough medical evaluation by one of our healthcare providers to
ensure readiness for surgery. At this time, the patient will
receive a focused history and physical examination to determine if additional
tests or medical therapy is necessary prior to their anticipated surgical
date. As part of the consultation, options for anesthesia will be explained to the patient. Patients will be advised on which medicines they should or should not take on the day of surgery.
Depending on the procedure the patient is having at Davie Medical Center, the following options may be offered:
- General anesthesia
- Regional anesthesia
anesthesia with sedation
It is important to remember that an anesthesiologist will meet with every patient on the day of surgery to finalize their anesthetic management.
