Mammography

Time for a Mammogram?  We Can Help.

The American Cancer Society recommends that women age 40 or over receive an annual mammogram. Women who have a family history of breast cancer or who have had the disease or other related problems might need to start getting mammograms at an earlier age.

Finding breast cancer early greatly improves a woman's chances for successful treatment. A mammogram plus a clinical breast exam are the most effective way to detect breast cancer early.  Changes in the breast can actually be detected by mammograms up to two years before a doctor or patient can feel them.  A mammogram at Davie Medical Center - Mocksville takes only about twenty minutes, but it can save your life.

In 2012, our Radiology mammography program was awarded a three-year term of accreditation as the result of a review by the American College of Radiology (ACR).  The ACR gold seal represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety.  It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR practice guidelines and technical standards after an evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists.
