Genetic Counseling

Genetic Counseling

Our genetic counselors work with families at all ages and stages of life, from preconception (pre-implantation genetic diagnosis and family planning), through birth (newborn screening) and into adulthood (late onset diseases). By integrating knowledge, learning and support into our counseling sessions, we are able to:

  • Provide genetic counseling for patients and families by board-certified genetic counselors
  • Interpret family and medical histories to assess the chance of disease occurrence or recurrence
  • Educate patients about inheritance, testing, management, prevention, resources and research
  • Counsel families to promote informed choices and adaptation to the risk or conditions

Clinical Genetic Evaluation

Because of the complexity of genetic testing, our experienced team includes faculty and staff who are board-certified in clinical genetics and genetic counseling. Through one-on-one consulting and counseling, we help your patients understand and adapt to the medical, psychological and familial implications of genetic contributions to disease.
