Through the three outpatient clinics of North Carolina Baptist Hospital offered by the Section on Endocrinology and Metabolism, Section physicians deliver the highest quality contemporary medical care to large numbers of patients with diabetes mellitus, disorders of lipoprotein metabolism, thyroid disease, osteoporosis, hypothalamic and pituitary disease, adrenal disease, abnormalities in calcium regulation, and gonadal dysfunction.

Clinic Visits

The General Endocrinology Clinic are located at 500 Shepherd Street, Suite 300, Winston-Salem, NC.  These clinics, which are a component of University Internal Medicine at Stratford Executive Park, care for patients with any endocrine or metabolic disorder.

The Lipid Clinic is located on the 7th floor of the Janeway Clinical Sciences tower.  This clinic is a component of  Internal Medicine and cares for patients with lipid disorders. 

K. Patrick Ober, MD, currently sees his patients on the 7th floor of the Janeway Clinical Sciences tower.

Please note that neither clinic will manage a patient’s primary care. 

Scheduling Appointments

All new patients appointments are by physician referral (preferably by your Primary Care Physicians). Please have your physician's office call 336-713-7251 to schedule an appointment.

All established patient clinic visits are by appointment only. Established patients please call 336-713-7251 to schedule an appointment.

Cancellations

If you are unable to keep your scheduled appointment, please call 336-713 7251 no later than 2 business days prior to your appointment so we may use this time for another patient.

Prescription Refills

For prescription refills, please have the pharmacy fax the refill request to 336-713-7255.  Requests are taken during office hours Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Please contact your pharmacist to verify that your prescription has been called into the pharmacy and is ready for you to pick up.

Please note the following restrictions regarding prescription refills:

We do not refill prescriptions prescribed by other physicians;

If you haven’t been seen by our physicians within the last year, you must schedule a follow-up visit prior to prescription refill.  We want to make sure that the medication is properly dosed and that your health hasn’t changed. 

Messages

If you want to leave a message for your physician, please call 336-713-7251 during business hours.  You will be asked for your phone number and the best time for staff to call back.  Staff will return your call within 48 hours.

After Hours Calls

If you have an urgent medical problem and you cannot wait to talk with your doctor during regular office hours, call 336-713-7251.  The on-call doctor for Endocrinology will return your call.

Emergencies

If you have a medical emergency, go directly to the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center Emergency Department or your nearest emergency room. Upon your arrival, notify the staff that you are a patient in the Infectious Diseases Specialty Clinic and give your physician’s name.

Test Results

Patients are normally notified of their lab or test results via letter.  Referring physicians will receive a copy of the patient’s lab results and the Endocrinologist’s transcription.
