Advanced Diagnosis and Treatment Options in North Carolina

For patients with epilepsy, determining the most accurate diagnosis is critical to mapping out the most effective possible treatment strategy. Our Center offers patients a state-of-the-art Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, as well as neurosurgeons who have years of experience in epilepsy surgery.

The Comprehensive Epilepsy Center strives for all patients with epilepsy to be seizure-free. Just 10 years ago, seizure-free living was unthinkable for many people with epilepsy, but today it can be achieved, even for difficult-to-control cases. Learn about epilepsy treatment options.

Epilepsy Team

Our neurosurgeons and epileptologists are leaders in the use of MRI-guided laser surgeries to help prevent seizures. Wake Forest Baptist is one of the few medical centers in the world offering both types of laser surgeries to help patients. Laser surgeries offer a minimally-invasive approach to surgery and offer a safer, and immediate treatment option. Dr. Adrian Laxton, has been perfecting this type of procedure. In addition, our comprehensive team of epilepsy specialists includes full-time epileptologists, neurosurgeons, nurse clinicians, social workers, and neuropsychologists. These experts collaborate to determine the best individual treatment for each patient. Meet our epilepsy team.
