Question: What brought you to Wake Forest Baptist?

Answer: I was definitely interested in the area - lots of fun things to do around Winston-Salem and in North Carolina/Virginia. Also, I was attracted by the strong healthcare community that Wake Forest Baptist provides. The people are so friendly both in the community and within Wake Forest Baptist Health.

Q: What are your clinical specialties?

A: I specialize in foot and ankle medicine and surgery. Some of the common foot/ankle problems that I see involve bunions, hammertoes, tendinitis, neuritis or neuroma issues, flat foot, lateral ankle instability, achilles tendinitis, tendon tears, fractures or dislocations, toenail/skin pathology of the foot, diabetic foot care, diabetic/vascular wound care, arthritis. The scope is very broad when dealing with the foot and ankle...

Q: Why did you decide to become a specialist in podiatry?

I see "primary care" podiatry because I like to handle a broad range of anything that comes into my office. Even if the patient does not need surgery, I work with the patient conservatively to not only help fix the problem but also to prevent pathology from occuring or getting worse. Prevention is a huge part of my practice.

Q: What is your patient care philosophy?

My philosophy is to really listen to my patients and help them maintain a healthy active lifestyle.

Q: What do you enjoy most about working with patients?

The best part of my job is simply the interaction with them, getting to know them and helping them become more active and pain-free.

Q: What type of volunteer and/or community activities are you involved in?

I like to give lectures and hold seminars or foot exams at Best Health in the Hanes Mall. I try to get involved whenever I am given the chance.

Q: What fun facts should we know about you?

I am an avid runner and outdoor enthusiast. I love to bike, hike and snowboard/ski. I love being outside and being active. I also paint and take pottery classes.
