Dr. Davis Vu is a specialist in family medicine and sports medicine. Below is a brief profile about him:

Davis D. Vu, MD
Peace Haven Family Medicine
1930 North Peace Haven Road, Winston-Salem
336-716-WAKE or 888-716-WAKE

Medical Degree: University of Cincinnati College of Medicine
Board Certification: American Academy of Family Physicians, American Medical Society for Sports Medicine

Question: What brought you to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center?

Answer: I wanted to be a part of a proud, local team. The focus on academic, evidence-based medicine at Wake Forest Baptist was my strongest reason for coming on board.

Q: What are your clinical specialties?

A: My clinical specialties are family medicine and sports medicine.

Q: Why did you decide to become a primary care doctor?

A: I’ve always been a curious person, and have always wanted to know how everything works and fits together. But, I also didn’t want to limit myself; I wanted to do a little of everything, see young and old, male and female. In sports medicine, it is fun to work with athletes who are trying to do the right thing by eating right and exercising, and trying to prevent disease before it happens. I want to do anything that I can to keep them going.

Q: What is your patient care philosophy?

A: I believe in focusing on prevention. I like to discuss immunizations, cancer screening, and lifestyle management with my patients. Most of what we see in medicine today can be prevented, but there’s only so much we can do after someone gets sick. For me, the best answer is if patients can help themselves from getting sick through preventative strategies.

Q: What do you enjoy most about working with patients?

A: I enjoy getting to know my patients on a personal level. I like to understand where they came from, what their upbringing was like, what is going on in their life right now, what type of work they do and what they are struggling with. Everyone knows that eating right and exercising is the healthy thing to do, but if you are struggling with that because of something else going on in your life, the advice rings hollow.

Q: What do you like to do in your free time?

A: I like to spend time at home with my family, rolling on the floor with the kids, playing games, cooking and eating at home, and working in the yard or on the house. I enjoy being outdoors. I am also a big sports fan.

Dr. Vu is an awesome provider and always shows that he truly cares. I am so sad to know that he will be leaving the practice in the beginning of the year.

When there is a medical opportunity for me to help make decisions, especially around medications and my allergies and intolerances, my doctor encourages me to do so and projects a genuinely favorable attitude/response when I do.

As always, I had a fantastic experience with Dr. Vu. He is patient, professional, and makes me feel comfortable and well cared for. After receiving my bloodwork results the next day, he followed up with a personal message to let me know more details about my results. I had some questions so we had a few messages back and forth, and he responded with thorough, valuable information. I really can't say enough positive things about Dr. Vu-- he is hands down the best doctor I've ever had and I am impressed with his attention to detail and care. When you are in his exam room, he treats you like you are his only patient that day even when I can see he has a busy schedule with many patients to visit. I never feel rushed or like I'm taking up too much of his time, as I've often felt with other doctors.

Dr. Vu is amazing. I have been seeing him for almost 10 years now and have transferred practices just to stay with him. I will continue to do the same as long as I am able to.
