Davis D. Vu, MD
Peace Haven Family Medicine
1930 North Peace Haven Road, Winston-Salem

Medical Degree: University of Cincinnati College of Medicine
Board Certification: American Academy of Family Physicians, American Medical Society for Sports Medicine
Question: What brought you to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center?
Answer: I wanted to be a part of a proud, local team. The focus on academic, evidence-based medicine at Wake Forest Baptist was my strongest reason for coming on board.
Q: What are your clinical specialties?
A: My clinical specialties are family medicine and sports medicine.
Q: Why did you decide to become a primary care doctor?
A: I’ve always been a curious person, and have always wanted to know how everything works and fits together. But, I also didn’t want to limit myself; I wanted to do a little of everything, see young and old, male and female. In sports medicine, it is fun to work with athletes who are trying to do the right thing by eating right and exercising, and trying to prevent disease before it happens. I want to do anything that I can to keep them going.
Q: What is your patient care philosophy?
A: I believe in focusing on prevention. I like to discuss immunizations, cancer screening, and lifestyle management with my patients. Most of what we see in medicine today can be prevented, but there’s only so much we can do after someone gets sick. For me, the best answer is if patients can help themselves from getting sick through preventative strategies.
Q: What do you enjoy most about working with patients?
A: I enjoy getting to know my patients on a personal level. I like to understand where they came from, what their upbringing was like, what is going on in their life right now, what type of work they do and what they are struggling with. Everyone knows that eating right and exercising is the healthy thing to do, but if you are struggling with that because of something else going on in your life, the advice rings hollow.
Q: What do you like to do in your free time?
A: I like to spend time at home with my family, rolling on the floor with the kids, playing games, cooking and eating at home, and working in the yard or on the house. I enjoy being outdoors. I am also a big sports fan.

The visit I had with Dr. Vu was very pleasant. He showed interest and concern with my problem and was taking notes. When I seen him taking notes it assured me he wanted to make sure he was getting every detail while I was talking. This made me feel like he cared about what I had to say. He also showed concern and compassion with some medication I was taking. I would recommend this practice to anyone. Great staff and a pleasant atmosphere. Dr. Vu was great!! Thank you for providing patients with awesome care.
I was very pleased with the care and concern Dr. Vu presented during my visit. He actually listened to what I had to say and expressed concern. I feel much better and I am happy to have a new PCP who is knowledgeable about my health concerns.
the provider listened attentively and offered relevant, informed advice. I felt assured that I was in good hands.
This was my first appointment with Dr. Vu because I have been disappointed with my family doctor through Novant. Dr. Vu was recommended by a friend and I agree that he is very attentive. He listened to me and asked follow-up questions, and gave me 2 treatment options I could pursue including benefits and risks. I really appreciate the time he took time to get to know me - I didn't feel rushed at all. I will see him again and I made appointments for my husband and dad, too.
Dr. Vue was great. He listened to everything I had to say and responded in a way that showed me he listened and care. Expertise was obvious. Great visit and he gave me lots of help.
Initial visit -- but I believe Dr. Vu was very respectful of my situation and showed a willingness to work with me.
I have been under Dr V's care since my family and I moved here from NJ six years ago. It's truly been a pleasure having him as my physician. I never thought I would have the same level of care that I received from my previous doctor but Dr Vu has surpassed all my expectations. He is truly an asset to his profession.
Dr. Vu is very attentive and personable
Dr.Vu is Great!!!!
Dr. Vu took time to explain how Diabetes works in the body, explained the medications necessary. Very thorough. A doctor in the past told me I was borderline diabetic and gave me pills. Never mentioned diet, exercise, nothing. Dr. Vu took the time to explain everything and refer me to classes. He's great!
Dr Vu is an excellent listener, provides me with clear and understandable explanations to my questions and has never made me feel like he is rushing to get to the next patient.
Highly pleased and satisfied with care and educational medical counseling provided by this provider.
He not only does he listen to his patients with much compassion; he also takes what they have to say or think into consideration.
You never get a second chance to make a first impression and I am very impressed with Dr. Vu
