At Your Request-Room Service Dining® is a “hotel style” order system that allows you to order what you want, when you want it. It is designed to meet the nutritional needs of our patients and the make a stay in the hospital more enjoyable. Patients utilize their bedside telephone to place their meal orders to an operator working our central call center. A bedside menu is provided to the patient from which a large number of options are available to choose. Completed meal orders are then prepared in the kitchen and delivered to the patient within 60 minutes of order. Patients may order any item on the menu at any time the kitchen is open for business if the item meets their physician prescribed diet order. Orders may be placed by dialing 65900. Family members may order meals for patients from outside the hospital by calling 336-716-5900.
We provide a printed, single-admission use menu in every patient room. The single-admission menu can be either discarded or taken home by the patient upon patient discharge. We also provide Spanish menus which may be requested. Spanish orders may be placed by calling 336-716-3663.
Meals are assembled in our assembly area as orders are received from the Call Center and food is prepared by the food production staff. Once a tray is assembled it is delivered by one of our Patient Nutrition Representatives who have been trained to provide courteous, helpful service. Below are the various menus offered:

- 6:30am – 8:00pm – Ardmore, North and Reynolds Tower
- 6:30am – 7:00pm – Comprehensive Cancer Center
- 6:30am – 7:00pm – Sticht Center
How It Works
AYR—Room Service Dining depends on both Food & Nutrition and Nursing staff to make it a success for our patients and families. Here’s how it works: The nurse introduces the program to the patient, explains how it works, and assesses the patient’s ability to participate. A patient selects whatever he or she wants from an AYR menu, as long as it’s part of his or her physician-approved diet. The patient or family member calls the order in to the Service Response Center at any time during the kitchen’s operating hours. Family members may also order guest trays through the Service Response Center. The meal is made to order and delivered to the patient’s room within 60 minutes.
The benefits are numerous:
- Meal choices are available for every appetite with appropriate options for modified diets.
- The food is fresher and tastier because it’s prepared right after an order is placed.
- Nutritional intake is improved because patients like what they are eating and get food when they are hungry.
- Nurses have more time to spend on their patients’ clinical care, rather than assist patients with choosing meals and processing those requests.
