Endocrine Surgery

Endocrine surgery is a specialty that treats both benign and malignant (cancerous) diseases of the endocrine system.  This includes the thyroid, parathyroid glands, the adrenal glands, certain tumors of the pancreas, some kinds of tumors in the gastrointestinal tract as well as a number of familial disorders (genetic diseases) that are characterized by endocrine tumors.

Endocrine surgeons are specially trained in both the medical pathophysiology of these diseases, as well as the surgical treatment of them.  They work closely with medical endocrinologists, as well as radiologists, oncologists, and nuclear medicine specialists to ensure that patients receive a multi-disciplinary, multi-expert approach to their treatment.
