Northwest Area Health Education Center

COORDINATOR OF CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION

Full-time regular, 40 hours/week

Job Summary: Under limited supervision, plan and coordinate programs for the Office of Continuing Medical Education and Northwest Area Health Education Center and support and manage the administrative processes of the Faculty Continuing Medical Education Committee and the accreditation process as prescribed by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME).

Education / Experience: Master's degree in health administration, public health, health education or education is required. In addition, 3 or more years of experience in continuing medical education and/or adult learning.

Reports To: Associate Director, Continuing Education Services, Northwest Area Health Education Center (AHEC)

Licensure, Certification and / or Registration: Completion of an ACCME Accreditation Workshop every four years. Certified CME Professional preferred. Valid NC driver's license.

Essential Functions:

1.

With WFSM Faculty and outside associations and organizations, plan, coordinate, execute, monitor and evaluate all phases of selected postgraduate and jointly-sponsored educational activities of the Office of Continuing Medical Education (OCME).

2.

Coordinates all aspects of the Faculty peer review CME review process for the OCME as well as the Reaccreditation Task Force.

3.

Provide feedback to WFSM Faculty CME Committee on OCME policies, procedures, forms, reports, evaluation assessments and strategic plans.

4.

Create statistical and administrative reports for WFSM-sponsored CME activities and performance indicators.

5.

Prepare CME activity budgets and solicit, review and reconcile educational grants, exhibit fees and in-kind donations.

6.

Contribute to and assist in the development of institutional CME policies and best practices.

7.

Assist in the development, coordination and distribution of OCME announcements, newsletters and electronic bulletins.

8.

Develop and teach all live and online OCME-sponsored classes and forums offered to Faculty, staff, administration, fellows, residents, students, pharmaceutical representatives and external partnering organizations.

9.

Attend monthly WFSM CME Committee meetings and prepare detailed minutes to document recommendations and actions of group.

10.

Screen new CME activity proposals and provide support and feedback to Faculty Activity Directors, their staff and planning committee members regarding submission of Certification Requests for Faculty CME Committee review.

Establish and maintain records for Certification Requests.

Skills and Qualifications:

Thorough understanding of all ACCME and AMA guidelines, Maintenance of Licensure and Maintenance of Certification requirements

Advanced knowledge of ACCME accreditation and AMA certification policies, procedures and regulation

Advanced knowledge of adult learning, preferably physician, principles in the development of classroom, web-based and blended educational formats

Strong initiative and proven ability to work independently while handling multiple projects

Excellent written and verbal skills

Strong customer service skills

Experience in event/conference planning

Proven skills in working effectively to build positive, collaborate relationships with Faculty, staff and external partners.

Ability to travel by various means of transportation (car, airplane, etc.)

Work Environment:
Clean, comfortable well-lit office setting.
Some overnight travel to local, regional and national convention/conferences.
