AirCare RN working Ful time; every other weekend.
The role of the critical care transport nurse consists of several responsibilities which includes, the transport of patients from referral facilities to North Carolina Baptist Hospital, education of referral hospital staff members, community support and education, as well as, providing support services within North Carolina Baptist Hospital. The transport nurse will provide nursing care, perform advanced practice skills as needed, and collaborate with medical control officer and other multidisciplinary team members to provide appropriate care to patients being transported. Follows NC Office of Emergency Medical Services (NCOEMS) guidelines.
Education / Experience: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. BCLS required. Minimum of two years recent critical care nursing and/or Emergency Department nursing.
Reports To: Transport Coordinator/ Program Manager
Licensure, Certification and / or Registration: Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina. NRP, PALS, ENPC or TNCC, ITLS or ITLS-P, ACLS
1. Ensures patient care standards to optimize patient outcomes.
2. Creates an environment which meets patient and family psychosocial and physical needs to allay anxiety and promote recovery.
3. Promotes a safe and supportive environment during transport for all passengers in the transport vehicle, re: patient, crew, and drivers.
4. Practices professional and courteous conduct in accordance with the key values of the institution by ensuring the continuous quality of professional services.
5. Conserves and maximizes utilization of resources.
Skills and Qualifications:
Communication skills including verbal, non-verbal, written, and listening skills.
Ability to provide direct and indirect patient care.
