Serves Patients by:

Cleaning and sanitizing assigned areas; protecting building surfaces, fixtures and furnishings; following-up on work assignments in absence of Supervisor.

Education:

  • Minimum Required: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.

Experience:

  • Minimum of one year experience in custodial work and/or supervision.

Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration:

  • N/A

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Ability to operate various floor machines and housekeeping equipment.

Primary Accountabilities:

  1. Adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building.
  2. Following hospital policies and procedures.
  3. Following departmental policies and procedures.
  4. Contributing to the overall quality of services.
  5. Assuming responsibility for keeping informed about changes in policies and procedures.

  1. Maintains Building Interiors by:
  2. Dusting and sanitizing furniture, equipment, mirrors and fixtures.
  3. Washing windows, walls, ceilings, vents and light fixtures.
  4. Sweeping, scrubbing and refinishing floors.
  5. Vacuuming and shampooing carpet.
  6. Changing cubicle curtains and drapes.
  7. Re-supplying restrooms.
  8. Replacing light bulbs.
  9. Reporting repairs.

  1. Removes Waste by:
  2. Emptying trash containers.
  3. Changing sharps containers.
  4. Transporting solid waste to compactors.
  5. Baling Cardboard.
  6. Recycling material.
  7. Cleaning / emptying cigarette receptacles / smoking areas.

  1. Keeps Cleaning Equipment Operational by:
  2. Following operational instructions.
  3. Cleaning equipment after each use.
  4. Notifying Equipment Technician of repairs needed.
  5. Verifying equipment is safe to use.

  1. Provides Quality Services by:
  2. Documenting cleaning actions.
  3. Noting areas requiring additional care or monitoring.
  4. Informing Supervisor of incomplete work.
  5. Communicating between shifts.
  6. Meeting Departmental Quality Standards.

  1. Maintains Technical Knowledge and Ensures Cost Containment by:
  2. Attending training as scheduled.
  3. Readinglabels and technical updates.
  4. Complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
  5. Using chemicals and supplies.
  6. Mixing and diluting chemicals.
  7. Maintaining equipment.

  1. Performs Non-Management Duties in Absence of Supervisorby:
  2. Inspecting and releasing cleaned rooms to Admissions.
  3. Stocking and distributing cleaning supplies.
  4. Completing project work as assigned.
  5. Conducting routine follow-up custodial training.
