Faculty Position in Cancer Prevention and Control and Health Disparities
The Comprehensive Cancer Center of Wake Forest University (CCCWFU) and the Division of Public Health Sciences invite applications for a tenure track faculty position at the Associate or Full Professor level in Cancer Prevention and Control with a focus on health disparities. We are particularly interested in applicants whose research focuses on health disparities related to cancer survivorship or smoking cessation/tobacco control. The CCCWFU catchment area has large African-American, Hispanic, and rural populations.
The successful candidate will participate in an active program in Cancer Prevention and Control as part of an NCI-funded Comprehensive Cancer Center. The CCCWFU has a large and dynamic group of faculty in over eight departments collaborating in the areas of survivorship, health disparities, tobacco control, quality of life, complementary and alternative therapies, lifestyle changes, aging, health services research, and genetic and molecular epidemiology. The CCCWFU has an NCI R25 training grant in cancer survivorship, serves as a Community Clinical Oncology Program (CCOP) Research Base, and participates in Alliance Cooperative trials. Opportunities for collaboration exist with the Maya Angelou Center on Health Equity (MACHE), a designated Center of Excellence with the national Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities. Other relevant Centers include a Genomics Center with a major focus on the genetic determinants of prostate cancer, a Translational Science Institute, Center for Worker Health, and a Center for Integrative Medicine.
The faculty position is offered within the Division of Public Health Sciences (PHS) which has over 50 faculty and 250 staff in three departments: Social Sciences and Health Policy, Epidemiology and Prevention, and Biostatistical Sciences. PHS is highly ranked nationally in NIH research funding among medical school departments of public health and preventive medicine. Affiliate status will be offered with MACHE.
Applicants should have a Ph.D., ScD. or M.D. with additional training/experience in behavioral medicine, psychology, cancer epidemiology, cancer survivorship, health services research, or clinical trials. Current extramural funding, experience in collaborative research in a multidisciplinary setting and excellent written and oral communication skills, and a strong publication record are required. Opportunities for teaching exist within our Master's degree program.
