The Department of Pediatrics at Wake Forest School of Medicine/Brenner Children's Hospital is seeking a dynamic and energetic leader as Chief of the Section of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.
Candidates must have a record of proven health care leadership, excellence in research, clinical care, education, and/or administrative accomplishments. Candidates must be board certified in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, hold the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, and have, or be eligible for, a North Carolina medical license.
Priorities for the Section Chief of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine include enhancing research programs, developing innovative patient care programs, collaborating with community physicians, mentoring and career development of faculty and fellows in the section.
The following qualities are preferred:
- Academic stature as an established clinical investigator
- Record of extramural grant funding and scholarly productivity
- Excellence in mentoring
- Transparency and a collaborative management style
- Business skills including budgeting and resource management
Wake Forest School of Medicine is the medical education and research component of Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, a fully integrated academic medical center, anchored by an 885-bed tertiary care hospital, community hospitals, affiliated partners and Brenner Children's Hospital. Benner Children's Hospital is the focal point for pediatric healthcare within Wake Forest Baptist Health is the referral center for Western North Carolina, Southern Virginia and Eastern Tennessee.
The Section of Neonatology is comprised of 14 neonatologists whose expertise include medical education, quality improvement science, medical ethics, epidemiology, and clinical research related to long term outcomes of premature infants. The Section of Neonatology cares for 1,500 infants born each year between the 40 bed NICU at Brenner and the 60 bed NICU at Forsyth Medical Center, where high risk infants are delivered in Perinatal Region II of North Carolina.
