The Department of Internal Medicine at Wake Forest Baptist Health invites nominations to submit CVs for The Section Chief on Pulmonary, Critical care, Allergy and Immunological Disease. The School of Medicine seeks an accomplished academic leader who will serve as the academic, administrative and clinical leader for the section and reports to the Chair of Internal Medicine. The Section Chief is responsible for all clinical programs in pulmonary and critical care, including the Medical ICU and Intermediate Care unit, pulmonary consultation services (inpatient and outpatient), bronchoscopy services, and allergy/immunology clinics. He/she will have a substantial record of outstanding patient care and scholarly activity. Responsibilities will include the section's fiscal affairs and efficient resource utilization, faculty recruitment and development, strategic growth of quality clinical services and research.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
ABIM board certification in Pulmonary, Critical Care or Allergy/immunology (or hold multiple certificates).
Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to measure performance and identify goals, assemble and lead effective teams, and achieve and maintain successful implementation of programs.
Experience supporting senior faculty in their research, teaching, clinical and administrative endeavors.
Record of successfully recruiting, retaining and mentoring junior faculty, along with the ability to create an atmosphere of high morale resulting in significant faculty retention.
Experienced in creating open lines of communication across a broad spectrum of constituents (affiliations, service lines, departments, etc.)
