Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC is seeking an exceptional Chief, Section on Hospital Medicine to serve as faculty for the academic, administrative, clinical and research leadership role. Responsibilities include: integrating the tripartite mission (clinical care, research and education) of an academic section; the section's fiscal affairs and efficient resource utilization; faculty recruitment, development, and retention; strategic growth in all three missions and; ensuring high quality, patient-centered clinical services are delivered by the Hospital Medicine Shared Service Line.
The Section on Hospital Medicine provides comprehensive clinical services in the inpatient setting. Services include primary coverage and management of several general internal medicine inpatient and observation units, high quality co-management with orthopedic surgery, oncology, cardiology and general internal medicine consultation services. The faculty plays a large role in partnering with the Internal Medicine Residency Program providing oversight and teaching activities for several house staff-covered teaching teams/activities from the Wake Forest School of Medicine. Candidates with a strong interest in professional growth through care model development and quality improvement initiatives as a part of Wake Forest Baptist Health's growing participation in regional health system integration are especially encouraged to apply.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- MD or DO with advanced training
- Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine
- Accomplished administrator
- Collaborative individual with a record of research high-impact quality improvement achievements
